Marlo: Are you tired of wearing headsets like Oculus or whatever, for gaming for watching movies? Barmak here has an amazing solution to this. So tell me a little bit about your company and what you’ve developed.
Barmak: Hi everyone, we are Brelyon, we are creating the world’s first virtual display that doesn’t need any headset. So what we are doing is that we are engineering the light that comes to the outside world such that your eyes actually focus in further distance, and we give you a very large field of view..
Marlo: So how far back do you have to stand from this device,
Barmak: so you go from anywhere from you know, 15 centimeter all the way to like 65 centimeter, so you can move back and forth on your chair, drink your coffee, and comfortably use this, this is kind of mostly made for desktop settings, it’s not a portable device. We really want to give you something that is 10 times better than what you’re experiencing today with monitors. And this is a device that you can use eight hours a day, every day, it has very, very minimal eye fatigue compared to headsets for examples, because of the nature of the depth that we provide.
Marlo: And I will tell you too, that’s one of the things that I don’t like about wearing a headset, is the eyestrain, I also get a little neck strain from it, because they’re kind of heavy on your head after a while you know too. So I would imagine that, you know, after you use them for a while that you get accustomed to this, but there’s really no kind of physical curve or whatever you want to call it, you know, when you’re using this, because you can just set this up and go, right?
Barmak: That is correct. So you don’t you know, you just use it like a normal monitor. So we wanted to be as non-intrusive as possible to the customer behavior. And so we really designed around that existing behavior, existing content and looking into how can we engineer the light to really enhance your experience to computers.
Marlo: Tell me about your favorite experience with your new product.
Barmak: So we just released 144 hertz gaming version of this technology. So imagine 122 inch 144 hertz HDR experience is really unheard of in the world of displays. And that’s that’s kind of the interesting new angle to Brelyon is that you’re not just like getting rid of the headsets, but we’re pushing the monitor industry, you know, to a new territory in terms of performance.
