You copy an address, then a phone number, then a Wi-Fi passwordβ¦ and when you go back to paste the address, it’s gone. Ctrl + C only remembers the last thing you copied. Windows has a fix built right in: press the Windows key + V.
The Shortcut
- Windows 10 and 11: Windows key + V
- Shows the things you’ve copied, newest first
- Pick one and press Enter (or click it) to paste it
First Time? Turn It On
Clipboard history is off until you switch it on. Press Windows key + V once and click Turn on. From then on, the things you copy are saved there.
Bonus Tip: Win + Shift + S
Need a quick screenshot? Press Windows key + Shift + S, drag around what you want, and it’s copied straight to your clipboard. It even shows up in your clipboard history, so you can paste it later.
