Need to fix the first word of a long line? Don’t hold the arrow key down and wait. Press Home to jump to the start of the line, or End to jump to the end.
The Shortcut
- Home: start of the line
- End: end of the line
- No Home or End key? On many laptops, try Fn + Left or Right Arrow
- Mac: ⌘ + Left Arrow / ⌘ + Right Arrow
Bonus Tip: Add Shift to Select
Shift + End selects everything from the cursor to the end of the line, and Shift + Home selects back to the start. Then just type to replace it. On a Mac, use ⌘ + Shift + Arrow.
