Tired of aiming for that tiny X in the corner? Press Alt + F4 and the app you’re using closes. If you have unsaved work, Windows asks first.
The Shortcut
- Alt + F4: closes the app you’re in
- Press it again to close the next one
- It asks before closing unsaved work
- Mac: ⌘ + Q
Bonus Tip: Shut Down or Restart
Press Alt + F4 on the desktop (press Windows key + D to get there) and the Shut Down Windows box opens. Pick Restart or Shut down and press Enter.
