Need to tweak a formula? Don’t double-click it or retype it. Press F2 and the cursor jumps to the end of what’s in the cell.
The Shortcut
- F2: edit the current cell
- Press Enter when done
- Works in Excel and Google Sheets
- Some laptops: Fn + F2
Bonus Tip: F4 Locks a Reference
While typing a formula, put the cursor on a cell reference and press F4. Excel adds $ signs ($E$2) so the reference stays put when you copy the formula. Press F4 again to cycle the options.
