Looking for one word on a long web page? Don’t scroll and squint. Press Ctrl + F, type the word, and every match lights up so you can jump right to it.

The Shortcut

  • Ctrl + F: opens the find bar
  • Type a word; every match is highlighted with a count
  • Press Enter for the next match
  • Mac: ⌘ + F

It’s Not Just for Browsers

Ctrl + F works in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, PDFs, email and most apps where you read text.

Bonus Tip: Ctrl + G for the Next Match

Press Ctrl + G to jump to the next match and Ctrl + Shift + G to go back. On a Mac, use ⌘ + G and ⌘ + Shift + G.
