Shopping for a surprise gift and someone walks up behind you? Press Command + H. The app you’re using vanishes from the screen instantly.

The Shortcut

  • ⌘ + H: hide the app you’re using
  • It’s hidden, not closed
  • Click its icon in the Dock to bring it back

Bonus Tip: Hide Everything Else

Press ⌘ + Option + H to hide every app except the one you’re in. It’s perfect right before you share your screen in a meeting.
