Cleaning out old tax drafts and want them gone for good, not sitting in the Recycle Bin? Select the file and press Shift + Delete.

The Shortcut

  • Shift + Delete: delete permanently
  • Skips the Recycle Bin
  • Windows asks you to confirm
  • Careful: there’s no undo

Bonus Tip: Undo a Regular Delete

Deleted the wrong file with plain Delete? Press Ctrl + Z right away and it comes back. On a Mac, ⌘ + Z works in Finder.
