Need a quick screenshot of just one thing on your screen? Skip the full-screen capture and cropping. Press Windows key + Shift + S, drag a box around what you want, and it’s copied and ready to paste.

The Shortcut

  • Windows key + Shift + S: opens the snipping bar
  • Drag a box around what you want
  • Paste it anywhere with Ctrl + V
  • Click the notification to mark it up or save it

Bonus Tip: Save the Whole Screen

Press Windows key + Print Screen. The screen dims for a moment, and a screenshot of everything is saved automatically to Pictures › Screenshots.

On a Mac?

Press ⌘ + Shift + 4 and drag a box.
