Deleted a whole paragraph by accident? Don’t panic, and don’t retype it. Press Ctrl + Z and it comes right back.

The Shortcut

  • Ctrl + Z: undo your last action
  • Press it again to undo more
  • Works in documents, email, spreadsheets, File Explorer and more
  • Mac: ⌘ + Z

Bonus Tip: Redo with Ctrl + Y

Undid one step too many? Press Ctrl + Y to redo it. It works in Word, Google Docs and most Windows apps. On a Mac, press ⌘ + Shift + Z.
